"Dead" Pointe Shoe Research

Here is a good reference video of worn out or "dead" pointe shoes as well as a diagram of the make up of a pointe shoe . Looking at the video research I have from Youtube its plain to see that the shoe is useless after the shank (the stiff sole of the shoe which supports the dancer) is broken it is useless.

In this video it is easy to see that one of the shoes offers no support for the dancer and her toes are bending under her weight.
